What it does

Sends PDF documents for legally binding e-signature. Upload a contract, drag signature fields onto the page, add one or more signers, and email it off. Nautis tracks every signature in real time, stores the signed copy, and generates an audit log for your records.

Who can use it

  • Founders and team members with DocSign permissions.

  • Signers don't need a Nautis account — they get an email link and sign in browser.

  • Read-only members can browse but can't upload, send, or revoke.

How to get here

From the sidebar, open Legal and click DocSign.

Step-by-step: upload a document

  1. Click Upload Document.

  2. Enter Title (required).

  3. Optional Description.

  4. Drag a PDF (max 25MB) or click to pick.

  5. Click Upload. Created with status Draft.

Step-by-step: add signers and send for signature

  6. Set Expiry (days) — default 30, range 1-365.

  7. Click Send for Signing.

Step-by-step: place signature fields

  1. Editor opens to place signature, date, name, checkbox fields.

  2. Drag Signature from toolbar onto the spot for the first signer.

  3. Assign each field to a signer via the dropdown.

  4. Click Send at the top. Nautis emails signers in order.

  5. If you step away, draft saves itself. Come back and click Resume Sending. Edit Signers still available.

Step-by-step: track signing status

  1. Document list shows colour-coded Status: Draft, Sent, Completed, Declined, Expired, Revoked.

  2. Open any to see per-signer status.

  3. Sync Status for an immediate refresh; otherwise updates in real time.

  4. Filter by Status dropdown or Search by title.

Step-by-step: download the signed PDF and audit log

  1. Open a Completed (or Sent with signers) document.

  2. Click Download for the signed PDF.

  3. Click Audit Log for tamper-evident PDF report (who, when, IP).

  4. Click Save to Data Room to file in a deal room (signed doc or audit log).

Step-by-step: revoke or delete a document

  1. Open the document, action menu → Revoke (cancels signing).

  2. Delete only available for Draft status. Sent/completed lock for audit.

Tips & limits

  • Tighten Expiry (days) for time-sensitive contracts.

  • Add yourself as signer for countersignatures.

FAQ

Do my signers need a Nautis account?

No. Email link → sign in browser. No account needed.

Can I send to several people in parallel?

Sign in the order you set, not parallel.

The file won't upload. What's wrong?

Either not PDF, or over 25MB. Re-export or compress.

Can I change signers after sending?

If still in Draft with saved layout, Edit Signers. Once sent, Revoke and re-send.

Are signatures legally binding?

Yes — e-signature standards. Check local requirements for wet ink documents.

Why is my document stuck on "Sent"?

Waiting for a signer. Open to see whose turn. Sync Status for fresh check. Expired badge if link ran out.

Can I undo a completed signature?

No. Re-upload a new version for a fresh round.
