What it does
A real email client inside Nautis. Connect Gmail, Outlook, or any IMAP mailbox (Yahoo, iCloud, and Zoho where enabled) and read, reply, and send from one unified inbox — with AI summaries, smart replies, and your Nautis contacts a click away. Multiple mailboxes merge into one chronological feed; mailbox slots are pooled across your organization.
Who can use it
Anyone with read permission for the Email module; create permission to connect a mailbox.
Each connected mailbox uses one slot from your org's pool. Plans include a number of slots (typically 3); Owners/Admins can subscribe to extra slots, billed monthly per slot.
You see the mailboxes you connected plus any shared with you; admins manage all org mailboxes.
How to get here
From the sidebar, open Profile & Company and click MailBox.
Step-by-step: connect a mailbox
Click Connect mailbox and pick your provider — Gmail, Outlook, or Other (IMAP) (plus Yahoo/iCloud/Zoho if enabled for your workspace).
Sign in on your provider's own screen — Nautis never sees your password; tokens are encrypted at rest.
New mail arrives within seconds; historic mail can take a few minutes to index.
Step-by-step: find your way around

Step-by-step: use the AI assistant
AI features run on your Nautis AI credits — never your email provider's quota.

While writing (sparkles icon): Draft from prompt, Rewrite tone… (concise/formal/friendly/shorter/longer), Continue writing, Suggest subject.
Step-by-step: manage mailboxes, slots, and sharing
Open Email settings (account menu → Manage mailboxes). The quota banner shows slots used; Owners/Admins click Manage slots to add/remove subscribed slots (billed monthly, prorated, up to 25).
Manage sharing on a mailbox card lets chosen teammates work the same inbox.
Disconnect mailbox stops syncing and revokes Nautis's access with your provider — the slot frees up; reconnect anytime.
Mailbox settings manages per-mailbox signatures.
Tips & limits
Attachments: 25 MB per file.
If a mailbox errors, disconnect and reconnect from Email settings.
If a slot subscription lapses, extra mailboxes get a 14-day grace window — reads keep working, sends are blocked. No mail is ever lost.
Assign a thread to a teammate to hand off an email without forwarding.
Every connect, send, disconnect, and delete is audit-logged.
FAQ
Which providers can I connect?
Gmail and Outlook out of the box, plus Other (IMAP) for any standard mailbox. Yahoo, iCloud, and Zoho appear when enabled for your workspace.
Is my email password stored in Nautis?
No. You sign in on your provider's page; Nautis stores only an encrypted access token and revokes it when you disconnect.
Can my team share one support@ mailbox?
Yes — connect it once, then use Manage sharing. Thread Assign divides up who handles what.
What happens when we run out of slots?
Connecting stops with "Mailbox limit reached". An Owner/Admin can add slots from Manage slots — billed monthly, cancel anytime.
Do AI replies use my Gmail/Outlook quota?
No — they use Nautis AI credits. Top up under Settings → Billing → AI Credits.
Can I schedule an email for later?
Yes — the Scheduled send picker in the composer. Scheduled messages wait in the Scheduled folder where you can still cancel.
I disconnected a mailbox by mistake — is my email gone?
No. Your email always lives with your provider. Reconnect and everything is back.
