What it does

Nautis Business Plans gives you a guided, section-by-section workspace to write a complete business plan. You can pull in data from your other Nautis modules, let AI draft each section for you, track completion, and export the finished plan as a PDF or Word document.

Who can use it

  • Any teammate whose role has the Business Plans permission enabled.

  • The Business Plans module must be turned on for your organization.

  • You must have a verified email address to create a new plan.

  • Free plans usually include a monthly cap on the number of plans you can create.

How to get here

From the sidebar, open Strategy & Planning and click Business Plans.

Step-by-step: create a new business plan

  1. Click Create Plan in the top-right.

  2. Pick a template: Start from scratch uses the default, or pick any other template card.

  3. Fill in: Business Plan Name (required), Description, Shared Access.

  4. Click Create.

Step-by-step: edit a section

  1. Click any section in the sidebar to open it.

  2. Type into the editor. Type / for a slash menu of blocks.

  3. Changes save automatically. Ctrl+S / Cmd+S to force-save.

  4. Click Mark Complete when done. Click Re-Edit to reopen.

Step-by-step: use AI to write or improve a section

  1. Open the section.

  2. Click Generate with AI.

  3. If content exists, Nautis confirms — generating replaces it (snapshot saved to Version History).

  4. Wait for the new draft.

For polish, use the AI Chat option in the section's More menu. AI uses your AI credits.

  1. Click Link Projects in the top-right.

  2. Pick the GTM workspace, financial project, and startup profile.

Step-by-step: add, hide, reorder, or remove sections

  • Add: click Add Section at the bottom of the section list.

  • Reorder: hover and drag the grip handle.

  • Hide: click the eye icon. Hidden sections move to a Hidden group and don't count toward completion.

  • Show again: click the eye icon in the Hidden group.

  • Delete permanently: hidden sections only. Click the red trash icon and confirm.

Step-by-step: see history and roll back

  1. Open a section.

  2. Click the More menu → Version History.

  3. Pick a previous version and restore.

Step-by-step: discuss with your team

  1. Open the section.

  2. Click MoreComments.

  3. Post a comment.

Step-by-step: set a plan status

  • Draft — default working state.

  • In Review — still editable.

  • Approved — entire plan read-only.

Only the plan owner or an org admin can change status.

Step-by-step: score my plan

The Score My Plan button runs an AI review of every section and gives a numeric score plus suggestions. Uses AI credits.

Step-by-step: preview, download as PDF or Word, or print

  1. Click the eye icon (Preview & Export) in the top-right.

  2. Use: Download PDF, Download DOCX, or Print.

Only visible sections with content are included.

Step-by-step: share a plan with teammates

  1. Click a plan to open it.

  2. Click the pencil icon next to the title.

  3. In Shared Access, tick teammates.

  4. Click Update.

Step-by-step: duplicate or delete a plan

On the Business Plans list, click the three-dot menu and choose Duplicate or Delete.

Tips & limits

  • The progress bar only counts visible sections.

  • Save by hand with Ctrl+S / Cmd+S if losing connection.

  • Approved plans can't be edited until moved back to Draft.

  • Word counts and reading progress per section are in each section's toolbar.

  • AI features can be turned off per organization.

FAQ

Will the AI overwrite what I've already written?

Only if you confirm. The previous content is saved to Version History first.

How are AI credits charged?

Generating a section, scoring the plan, and chatting with AI each draw a small number of credits.

Can I export only a few sections?

Hide unwanted sections, then export. The PDF, DOCX, and print views skip hidden sections.

My collaborator can't see the plan. Why?

Either their role doesn't have Business Plans permission, or they aren't in Shared Access.

What happens when I link a financial project or GTM workspace?

Linking unlocks the Import Data button in matching sections. You can re-import as often as you like.
