What it does

Startup Health is a monthly check-in that captures your cash, recurring revenue, and burn in under a minute. Nautis turns those three numbers into runway, growth, and burn-trend metrics, draws charts, raises alerts when something looks bad, and lets you spin up a polished investor snapshot you can share with backers.

Who can use it

  • Anyone with read access to the Startup Health module.

  • Adding/editing check-ins needs create or update permission.

  • Startup Health must be enabled on your plan.

How to get here

From the sidebar, open Finance and click Startup Health.

Step-by-step: add a monthly check-in

  1. Click Update Data.

  2. Choose This month or Other month (up to last month).

  3. Enter Cash Balance, Monthly MRR, Monthly Burn.

  4. Last month's comparison shows as you type. Copy last month to pre-fill.

  5. Click Save & Update Dashboard.

After saving, the Investor Snapshot Editor opens for that month.

Step-by-step: read the dashboard

Hero metric cards:

  • Cash Balance — month-end cash with percent-change badge.

  • Monthly MRR — current with growth vs last month.

  • Monthly Burn — current with change.

  • Runway — months at current burn.

Top alerts strip highlights critical issues (runway under 6 months, negative MRR growth, ballooning burn). Dismiss with X.

History tab = table of all check-ins. Analytics tab = single chart of all metrics over time.

Eye icon hides intro section.

Step-by-step: view or edit a past check-in

  1. Scroll to History table.

  2. Click Edit (pencil) on the row.

  3. Dialog opens with that month's values.

  4. Update and Save & Update Dashboard.

  5. To delete: Delete Check-in in the dialog, confirm. Also deletes the snapshot for that month.

Finalized check-ins (after snapshot shared) are read-only.

Step-by-step: build an investor snapshot

  1. From history, click View on any check-in.

  2. Investor Snapshot Editor opens with metric cards and editable sections.

  3. Fill in: Overview, Execution, Growth, Burn, Team, Focus next month.

  4. Click Save.

Sensible defaults pre-loaded from metrics.

Step-by-step: preview the snapshot

  1. Click Preview.

  2. Renders the investor view.

  3. Download PDF for a portable copy.

Step-by-step: share the snapshot

  1. Click Share Snapshot.

  2. Pick: Share via Link (tracked URL with expiry: never/7/30 days/custom; Allow history toggle) or Share via Email.

  3. Recipients see a clean public view — no Nautis account required.

Tips & limits

  • Use month-end bank balance for Cash Balance.

  • MRR should be recurring only.

  • Burn is spend minus revenue. If cashflow positive, enter 0.

  • Set a calendar reminder for the 1st of every month.

  • One check-in per month — editing updates that month's record.

FAQ

What if I miss a month?

Pick Other month and choose the missing one. Backfilling fixes the trend chart.

Can I tweak alert thresholds?

No — built in. The alert strip can be dismissed.

Do investors need a Nautis account to view?

No. Anyone with the share link can open it.

What happens to the snapshot if I delete the check-in?

Snapshot deletes too. Active share links stop working.

Can I share multiple months at once?

Yes — toggle Allow history on the share link.
