What it does

The Notifications tab controls which in-app notifications appear in your bell dropdown (the bell icon in the top bar). You turn whole categories on or off — for example, you can mute every "social calendar" update without touching tasks or mentions.

In-app notifications and email notifications are managed separately. This tab is only about the bell. For email control, see Account settings — Email Preferences.

Who can use it

  • Every signed-in user has their own Notifications tab. Your choices only affect your own bell.

  • Security notifications are always on and cannot be disabled.

How to get here

  1. Sign in to Nautis.

  2. Open your profile menu in the top-right and click Account Settings.

  3. Click the Notifications tab.

Step-by-step: turn a category on or off

  1. On the Notifications tab, you'll see a list of toggles, each with an icon, a name, and a short description.

  2. Click any toggle to flip it on (filled) or off (empty).

  3. The Save Preferences button at the bottom-right wakes up as soon as you've made a change.

  4. Click Save Preferences when you're done.

  5. You'll see "Notification preferences updated."

If you change your mind before saving, just click the toggles back the way they were — or leave the page without clicking Save Preferences and your changes are discarded.

The categories

Here's everything you can control on this tab:

  • Security — Failed access attempts and other workspace security events. Always on, cannot be turned off.

  • Mentions — When someone @mentions you in a comment, task, or chat.

  • Tasks — Task assignments, status changes, comments, and deadlines.

  • Social Calendar — Post submissions, approvals, and publishing.

  • Doc Sign — Signature requests, completions, and declines.

  • Chat — Mentions in chat threads. (The per-message badge in the chat sidebar is not affected by this toggle.)

  • Sharing — When someone shares a data room, deck, note, or brand kit with you.

  • Billing & Credits — Payment failures, plan expiration, and AI credit alerts.

  • Scheduling — Booking confirmations, cancellations, and meeting reminders.

  • Other Updates — Cap table changes, referrals, partner payouts, and other workspace events.

Step-by-step: pick a quiet setup

If you want a low-noise inbox, here's one sensible starting point:

  1. On the Notifications tab, leave these on:

    • Security (forced)

    • Mentions — so you don't miss being @mentioned

    • Tasks — so you see assignments

    • Billing & Credits — so payment problems don't surprise you

  2. Turn the rest off.

  3. Click Save Preferences.

You can always turn categories back on as your habits change.

Step-by-step: clear notifications from the bell

The Notifications tab is for preferences. To actually read and dismiss notifications:

  1. Click the bell icon in the top bar.

  2. Click any notification to open it, or use the controls in the bell dropdown to mark items as read.

Tips & limits

  • Security alerts can't be disabled. The toggle is greyed out on purpose — these are too important to mute.

  • The Save Preferences button is greyed out until you actually change something. If it looks dead, you haven't made a change yet.

  • These toggles control the bell dropdown only. They do not stop emails. Use the Email Preferences tab to control emails.

  • The Chat toggle here is about mention-style notifications appearing in the bell — the chat sidebar message badge is unrelated and always shows unread counts.

  • Sound and desktop notification settings are not currently exposed in this tab.

  • Changes save instantly to your account once you click Save Preferences and should take effect right away across the app.

FAQ

Why is Security greyed out?

Security notifications can't be turned off. Things like failed sign-ins are critical to see, so they're locked on.

I turned off Tasks but I still got an email when someone assigned me a task. Why?

This tab only controls the bell. To stop the email, go to the Email Preferences tab as well.

I turned off Chat but I still see a red badge on the chat icon.

That badge is the per-thread unread count and is not controlled by these toggles. The Chat toggle only affects @mention notifications in the bell.

Can I get a sound or browser pop-up when a notification arrives?

Those aren't exposed in this tab today.

Do my preferences apply to every organization I belong to?

Yes — these are personal preferences, tied to you as a user across every workspace you're a member of.

What if I save by accident?

Toggle the categories back and click Save Preferences again.
